Every mother deserves a Blessing Way

For centuries, women have been attended to in birth
by other women. The knowledge, security and comfort that the Doula
brings to the laboring woman is priceless.

 A Blessing Way is a mother centered celebration.
The Mother's Blessing  Ceremony, also known as The Blessingway by  Navajo people.  It is a very positive ceremony attended by those who the mother relies on for support and trusts deeply. The ceremony marks a woman's rite of passage.  It is a ceremony of the transformative power of birth and prepares the mother for her journey ahead. Ideally you want to plan a blessingway as close to your due date as you feel comfortable. Within a circle of women  (men can be included as well)  the mother is honored,blessed,cherished,and given a pampering  to honor her and baby.

 Some of the different activities that you can plan at your Blessing way are;

Herbal/flower foot bath and massage
Singing
Massage
Belly casting
Sharing and blessings from everyone in the circle
Baby blessings and prayers
Making a Birth Necklace
Henna Art on the belly
Making flower crowns for mom or all women in attendance
Candle lighting
Symbolic Umbilical Yarn bracelets
Special foods to nourish
